Active Release Technique is a soft tissue therapy designed to treat adhesions and/or scar tissue throughout the body to help restore proper muscle length, motion, and function. When muscles are injured our body uses scar tissue to repair the injury. The problem lies when the scar tissue is not adequately stressed in the proper directions and obstructions to movement or proper range of motion occur. Adhesions, trigger points, knots or scar tissue may develop in the muscles when this occurs. S Stretching alone may not restore proper motion and movement and manual therapy throughout the muscles motion may be necessary.
